New Literature Blog! Update of Life.

I haven't posted anything in a while because college (overlapped with work and Marching Mizzou) is slowly killing me. But that's okay. (At least that's what I'm telling myself as I ignore all responsibilities in my life until the stack falls over.)

(Update: It fell over.)

A Dollar For Your Thought; A Penny For Your Words.

For my English1000 class, our assignment is to create a blog and post our drafts and final copies as well as other things we create on our own on the blog. I asked if I could just add to the blog I already had and she said to just make a new one.

So that's exactly what I did, I created a blog where I will continuously post my writing, all forms of it.

If you click the image, a new window will open redirecting you to the blog.

I will still be posting on this blog for fashion, makeup, personal things and others but not as frequent as the other since it is for a class and my free time is at an all time low.

Thank you for reading.

7 Weeks of College Later... 7 Things I Learned

  1. I don't ever recommend someone living at home their Freshman year of college, even if you are a local. I have lived in Columbia for 10 years and decided to save some money by living at home for a year or two. I have not made any friends. Well I have, but since they all live on campus, I am constantly left out of the group to the point where it depresses me.
  2. Use your resources. Staff gets paid to help you, make their lives interesting and actually ask them questions or go get help on your papers. EMAIL YOUR TA/GA! They are there for a reason, they aren't actually pointless.
  3. Equal out your work and play. Go live the college experience, just don't be a dipshit about it. Do your papers, read the textbook, show up to lectures at least 50% sober. Take notes. Some professors teach straight from the textbook and though I feel like I should say show up to class, if you feel like you would process the information better just by reading the book instead of that class, you do you. It all depends on the professor or instructor.
  4. Find a convenient bathroom. One that no one uses at times where big lectures are going on so no one is around. You'll thank me for this tip when you appreciate a nice bathroom.
  5. College dress code. Feel free to look like shit to your 8am. No one expects you to get all dolled up for that, a big tee and Nike shorts with some flip flops are fine. But if you feel like getting dressed, you do you. Live your life.
  6. Online summer classes are your friend. General education courses suck, and if you were anything like me in high school, you didn't take and AP or Dual Credit courses. Don't waste your fall and spring semester credit hours with basics, get that over with online during summer, it wont take more than an hour a day for one class. It'll be okay.
  7. Talk to people. Be nice, hold the door. This isn't high school bullshit anymore. No more petty drama, get over yourself. Nothing is free here except yourself, so be you and keep doing you and let others do the same. Sit with random people at the dining halls, talk to people in your dorms. "One Mizzou"

I still don't know a lot of things but this is just my two cents.

Band Camp and First Day of College.

I will say one thing, and one thing only about what I've learned while being around college kids for the past week; don't go alone.

This applies to all genders, races, (most) situations, and all species of human beings.
Don't go alone to a party, have someone watch over you and drive you home safely if you partake in college activities.
Don't walk alone down the street, yes guys, you too. Anything can happen to anyone no matter the number of people, but a singular person is an easier target.

That being said, today marked my induction into becoming a Missouri Tiger. Marching Mizzou played at the quad after the Freshman, like myself, hauled ass through the columns and tried not to get trampled over. Me and the rest of color guard were in the front of the group, there was a lot of pressure.

I sometimes forget why I put myself through the countless hours in the blazing sun spinning a hot metal flag, and then I remember what friends I have already become so close to and classes haven't even started yet. There's no way I will be doing more than a two years in college guard, and that's fine because for me, it's all about the people.

I do not enjoy talking to people and meeting new people, but I force myself into situations like that so I'm not that one kid. And usually it works out.

I apologize or the lack of posts, college, my job, and M2, will be consuming my life for the next while or so.

A Good Find and Unborn Nostagia

Instead of Plato's Closet, I went to Goodwill (only after seeing the chaos that was the grab bag sale.) It really is luck when you get lucky at Goodwill, and when I went, I swear they just got a whole shipment of clothes my size.

I tried on everything but couldn't afford everything and ended up getting just four items; a dress, a skirt, a v-neck, and a tank top.

The tank top was iffy for me but I try to keep an open mind about my style. I want to stay up-to-date but have my own spin on things. And floral and frilly is in. I think its very grown up with a pair of leggings and this outfit if sure to fit in with the college vibe.

The brand of the top is Lauren Conrad and her ruffled tank tops sell at Kohl's for around $20. I bought this at Goodwill for $3.

This could be worn in the Fall as well as Spring and Summer because although it's floral, the colors can go with any season. All but winter of course. It's a tank top.

This outfit consists of both the skirt and shirt I got from Goodwill. The top is just a Merona v-neck that you can get from target for about $15 and I got it for $3. But it was simple and cheap and although it's fun to get floral and frilly, simple is always nice too. This picture isn't a good example of a simple outfit. Do as I say, not as I do.

The skirt is a floral patterned and has a very nice nature color scheme going on. It's from Forever 21 and their skirt prices range from $10 to $30 and I got it for $4.

The last thing I got was a very cute polka dot button down dress. The reason I got it was it sends off a very 50's housewife vibe. Not because it's a life goal to be a housewife, but because I really enjoy looks inspired by different eras, such as the 50's and 60's.

Sadly there was no tag to tell the brand but either way it's right up my ally. It fits perfectly and only cost $4.50.

It seemed necessary to pose with lipstick like I was in a vintage Macy's ad. And matched with a pair of heels with a bow on them, it fit the part beautifully.

I would never want to live in the 50's though, it seems horrendous. I just like the style. Unborn nostalgia for old fashion.

Thanks for reading my blog, if you have any suggestions for what I should post, let me know. Next I plan to do a Summer Soundtrack post and hopefully start a YouTube channel for maybe some makeup tips even though I'm far from pro. It's just a hobby.

Let's Get Some Shoes. Let's Party.

If you didn't get that reference then I feel really old. And I am really old, I turn 18 on Saturday, July 19th. So to treat myself, I got some money from graduation and bought shoes I don't need. Do I fit in the stereotype now? Am I finally a "real woman"? Life goals achieved. (Sarcasm.)
Either way, my mall has a Payless in it and they were having a lot of clearance items so I searched through them. It took some thought but I ended up getting two pairs.

The first pair I got were a pair of pumps with a tropical vibe. The brand is Fioni and they were originally $29.99 and I got them for $20. Not much of a save but it still counts. Too cute to pass up.

The second pair I got were a sandal with a slight heel. They have more of a bohemian vibe. Made by American Eagle, they didn't have an original price tag but I would assume that they were $20-$30 dollars and I got them for $10. How could I say no to that?
