I haven't posted anything in a while because college (overlapped with work and Marching Mizzou) is slowly killing me. But that's okay. (At least that's what I'm telling myself as I ignore all responsibilities in my life until the stack falls over.)
(Update: It fell over.)
A Dollar For Your Thought; A Penny For Your Words.
For my English1000 class, our assignment is to create a blog and post our drafts and final copies as well as other things we create on our own on the blog. I asked if I could just add to the blog I already had and she said to just make a new one.
So that's exactly what I did, I created a blog where I will continuously post my writing, all forms of it.
If you click the image, a new window will open redirecting you to the blog.
I will still be posting on this blog for fashion, makeup, personal things and others but not as frequent as the other since it is for a class and my free time is at an all time low.
Thank you for reading.
7 Weeks of College Later... 7 Things I Learned
- I don't ever recommend someone living at home their Freshman year of college, even if you are a local. I have lived in Columbia for 10 years and decided to save some money by living at home for a year or two. I have not made any friends. Well I have, but since they all live on campus, I am constantly left out of the group to the point where it depresses me.
- Use your resources. Staff gets paid to help you, make their lives interesting and actually ask them questions or go get help on your papers. EMAIL YOUR TA/GA! They are there for a reason, they aren't actually pointless.
- Equal out your work and play. Go live the college experience, just don't be a dipshit about it. Do your papers, read the textbook, show up to lectures at least 50% sober. Take notes. Some professors teach straight from the textbook and though I feel like I should say show up to class, if you feel like you would process the information better just by reading the book instead of that class, you do you. It all depends on the professor or instructor.
- Find a convenient bathroom. One that no one uses at times where big lectures are going on so no one is around. You'll thank me for this tip when you appreciate a nice bathroom.
- College dress code. Feel free to look like shit to your 8am. No one expects you to get all dolled up for that, a big tee and Nike shorts with some flip flops are fine. But if you feel like getting dressed, you do you. Live your life.
- Online summer classes are your friend. General education courses suck, and if you were anything like me in high school, you didn't take and AP or Dual Credit courses. Don't waste your fall and spring semester credit hours with basics, get that over with online during summer, it wont take more than an hour a day for one class. It'll be okay.
- Talk to people. Be nice, hold the door. This isn't high school bullshit anymore. No more petty drama, get over yourself. Nothing is free here except yourself, so be you and keep doing you and let others do the same. Sit with random people at the dining halls, talk to people in your dorms. "One Mizzou"

I still don't know a lot of things but this is just my two cents.
